Foreword

The Holocaust is not only a historic tragedy of of unparalleled horror, but also a deep wound in the everyday lives of the Jewish People throughout the world. It is the duty of today's generation to fulfil the legacy never to forget the Nazi atrocities and to ensure that such an abomination must never happen again.

David Dunne's haunting exhibition addresses just that legacy. Based on extensive research in the death camps of Europe, the works intertwine past and future, learning and educating, testimony and message. In this context, his work relates to one of the most difficult challenges of contemporary artist who portray the Shooh - how to represent an event that this generation did not experience directly but was influenced by the memory as passed down through memoirs, film, photographs and museums.

At a time when Holocaust deniers and denigrators continue to promulgate their evil, this exhibition carries aloud and clear signal to civilised humanity.
