Diana Kurz was born in Vienna in 1936. In 1938 she and her family fled to England and then to the United States.   She studied at Brandeis and Columbia Universities.  She now lives in New York.   Much of her painting has to do with issues connected with the Holocaust, the memories of displacement from a country she considered her homeland, and issues connected today with the Austrian perception of itself as "the first victim of Nazism."

Kurz's exhibition is presented by the Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies, The Katherine E. Nash Gallery, Art Department, Center for Women's Studies, Jewish Studies, College of Liberal Arts and a grant from the Jewish Community Foundation of the Minneapolis Jewish Federation.
