Fritz Hirschberger: Computer Generated Works on Paper

Each 8 ½ x 11 inches

In the last two years of his life, Fritz Hirschberger discovered computerized art and especially the creating of collages and works with deep satirical character. As with his other final works, they dealt with many subjects, including homage to other artists like the Belgian painter Magritte, issues regarding male-domination questions, sins of mankind, statements on political questions, the Holocaust (again) and questions of complicity of nations outside of Germany, and issues of what he perceived to be the “dumbing down" of American because of capitalist greed. The artist refers to himself as "Hugo" in some of these works, perhaps a reference to the DADA artist Hugo Ball (or perhaps derived from the Hugo Awards fr works of fantasy). Hirschberger was one who did not take prisoners when it came to social commentary.

All of the works shown were computer generated, printed on Kodak glossy paper
