SCAA - Swedish Committee Against Anti-Semitism
The Swedish Committee Against Antisemitism, SCAA, is a nonprofit, politically and religiously non-affiliated organization set up in 1983 to combat antisemitism and racial prejudice in Sweden. The organization has both Jewish and non Jewish members. SCAA cooperates with other anti-racist organizations, with schools, political groups and parties, and academic institutions.
During 1997 1998 SCAA has participated in joint projects with the Swedish Government information and education campaign Living History. A member of the SCAA, Stephane Bruchfeld, was one of the cowriters of the much acclaimed book on the Holocaust, "Tell ye your children... ", which was published and distributed by the Swedish government in 1998. In 1998 the SCAA also arranged a visit to Auschwitz for representatives of the Swedish government and other officials. The visit was followed up by a study-tour organized by the SCAA to different educational institutions in Israel.
The Swedish Committee Against Antisemitism runs long term education projects and counteracts antisemitic manifestations when they occur. The SCAA monitors the activities and propaganda of racist groups and informs the public, politicians, judicial authorities and the media of such activities. The SCAA has several times filed complaints with the Attorney-General regarding anti-Jewish, racist and Nazi propaganda.
Members of the SCAA are often engaged by schools and organizations to lecture on antisemitism, Nazism, the Holocaust and Holocaust-denial. The staff of the Committee supplies both teachers and pupils with material on these topics.
