Title: "An Ungrateful World"

Artist's Statement
"My art design is of someone crying. That someone is the creator of the world. No matter what religion or race you are, you believe that someone created the world. The creator of the world has seen what the world has come to, and is crying. They did not picture the world coming to this. They did not want genocide, hate, or war.

I believe that Coexistence means peace and harmony. If we do not achieve peace and harmony soon, we will all perish. It is up to us to change the world and bring peace and harmony to all people."
 

Title: "The Inferno are the Others" (Quote from F. Nietzsche)

Artist's Statement
"According to Nietzsche, each person is the representation of the Inferno for the others, in the way that the existence of everyone depends on the eyes of the Inferno. Persons exist only if others recognize their existence by their own eyes. On the other hand, coexistence is the process by which the people learn how to look at each other as Nietzche states, by their own eyes, so they can live around the others with respect and tolerance."

Artist's Statement
"This picture, "A Peaceful Universe", shows different kinds of people living together. Each of the symbols in the drawing illustrates a variety of people working to create a peaceful universe even though no one is perfect. Coexistence is a powerful word; to me, it symbolizes a group consisting of unique and different kinds of people working together to make peace and harmony. The most important thing is peace in the world because discrimination and war are harmful."

Artist's Statement
"For there to be a balance in the world that at times seems to sway, there needs to be peace. And for myself, the meaning of peace is a coexistence that is harbored in the hearts and minds of those who struggle in this swaying, unstable world that we ourselves have created. Sometimes, out of the struggle to maintain a “balance”, our minds become diluted, and we are far too proud to look upon our brothers and sisters as equals. History recounts the wars, the bloodshed, the holocausts, and mournful hearts that have not tears enough for what they have suffered. These hateful negatives shadow our humanity and scar our history. But scars can be good; they remind us that the past was real and haunting. Blind hate of humanity is what me mean when we say someone is haunted. These types of people can not be blamed for the negative actions they create, because cruelty is a taught skill. It is in our nature to forgive. To reteach them is to coexist, to reset the balance.

The hate that possesses the world is similar to that of vanity; an illusion of lies to cover the truth beneath us. We hate others because we see something in them that which we hate about ourselves. We need to recover the inner being in every person, to shroud them with the white linen of redeemable coexistence. We need to look past our differences, which in the end may not really be so different."
 

Title: "To Unite or To Fall"

Artist's Statement
"To me, this picture shows that when people try to stand alone, there is no way for them to survive. There are three towers which can symbolize different races or even religions, and they are all determined to stand on their own. Each of them falls, either because of the flimsy world it has created for itself, or because of the anger and separation that has seeped into every pore of its environment.

The reflection of coexistence in the lake to me symbolizes the ideal world which is literally and metaphorically staring the separated people in the face. To just work together and combine their strengths would make a much healthier and stronger world for everyone involved. That's what coexistence means to me: to let go of the walls we've built around ourselves and become one with the world. Separation only breeds anger, resentment, and fear."
 

Title: "Contrasted Unity"

Artist's Statement
"'Co-existence'....it can mean so many different things. When I thought of this word, one image came to mind---hands embracing an eye. There's darkness and light to everything we do. That is what makes the world go around, but darkness doesn't always have to be bad. That is why the hands are a gray-black scale. We are all so different, yet so much alike. We are all born innocent, yet so many die guilty. We need to embrace the sight of others. The hands are dark to show a life lived; a soul with a trail of footsteps on this journey. They embrace the eye; color and sight; a window to the soul that has already seen many things, but can still see so much more. I believe that if everyone could combine the two within themselves, we would truly coexist with one another."
 

Title: "A Simple Touch"

Artist's Statement
"Nothing in this world would work with out a joint effort. The world must work together in order to accomplish anything. The world must also do things for the benefit of other people, not just themselves. Something could mean very little to one person, but mean the world to another. I believe everyone should have the goal to touch a person's life someday. I know that many people have affected my life, helping me through the good times and the bad. I can only hope that some day I can return the favor. My artwork represents the act of touching other people's lives. We wouldn't be able to coexist if we only thought of ourselves. We all need to lend a hand and help out."
